Space tourism advances in 2024

The reality of space tourism is getting closer and closer. Much has been heard in recent years about this unique experience that few have access to.

Space Perspective, a leading luxury space travel company based in Florida, United States of America, last week unveiled images of the design of its Neptune Spaceship, which hopes to take travellers into space as early as 2024.

The spacecraft is shaped like a spherical capsule, with a 360-degree view, carbon-neutral with zero emissions and a reflective coating to limit the temperature rise caused by sun exposure.

With capacity for 8 passengers, inside, travellers will enjoy deep reclining seats, mood lighting, bar and even Wi-Fi on this journey that will last a total of six hours.

With an unparalleled view thanks to its reflective windows similar to an astronaut’s helmet and the new thermal control system, developed in partnership with the London studio Of My Imagination.

In a statement Taber MacCallum, Space Perspective’s founder, co-CEO, and chief technology officer, said, “Our ‘proprietary flight system’ means that the capsule and SpaceBalloon remain connected at all times and take-off and landing conditions are always under our control”.

The team came together to create an incredibly robust, safe, elegant and luxurious system for the Neptune Spaceship. Simplicity and automation are the keys to safety.

The capsule is patented and currently in production near Space Perspective’s Operations Center at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The company, which calls itself “the world’s first luxury spaceflight experience company”, will sell tickets to space for $125,000 per passenger, promising a unique experience of a trip 20 miles (32.18 kilometres) above the earth.
