On 26 July, at its headquarters, the BNI Bank received Angolan athlete Hélio Zembula, a judo fighter who last June won another gold medal by beating his Zambian opponent in the African judo championship held in South Africa, in the under 66 kilos category.

BNI Bank, as a sponsor, received at its headquarters Mr Zembula by its Chairman of the Board of Directors, José Boyol, and by its Vice-Chairman, Sandro Africano.

During this visit, Hélio Zembula spoke with Bank employees, to whom he told his life story and the motivation that has been pursuing him to achieve better results in each of the stages of his career. Winning the gold medal in the African judo championship is a date that he will not forget, because it “allowed him to surpass himself, show his abilities beyond borders, and to raise the name of Angola throughout the world,” stresses the athlete, who believes that it is possible to “always work towards better results for us and for the entities that we represent.

Grateful for the sponsorship that BNI Bank gave him, Hélio Zembula recalls that “high performance in high competition is only possible when commitment, training, persistence, family support and material conditions are met. Being able to count on the support of BNI Bank in this last aspect is extremely important and makes me a more confident athlete”, he stresses.

José Boyol, BNI’s Chairman, who listened attentively to Hélio Zembula’s speech and who enjoyed his interaction with BNI Bank’s employees, recalled that support for sport is part of the institution’s policy of responsibility and “in the growing search to support communities and their economic, cultural and social development. As sport is an activity founded on values of respect, overcoming and sharing, it is with great pleasure that BNI Bank associates itself with sports which enhance the name of Angola. The sponsorship that we have attributed to Hélio Zembula makes perfect sense, not only as a reward for the path already taken – with effort and a lot of dedication – but, above all, so that he feels motivated to maintain his high levels of performance both in national and international competitions”.

This and other support makes BNI an institution committed to the development of sports in Angola, whether through the granting of sponsorship or the creation of partnerships with other entities that share the same values as the Bank.
