The airline BestFly has bought four AW169 model helicopters, manufactured by Italian company Leonardo, which will be used to support the oil and gas industry in the country.

This acquisition was financed by Angolano de Investimentos SA Bank (BAI).

Out of the four planes, two were delivered by the manufacturer on 17 and 30 June 2022 to BestFly, having arrived in the country last Tuesday.

In a statement, the company explained that the aircraft will be based in Malongo, in the Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (Chevron) oil field and will support blocks 0 and 14.

In a statement, BestFly also said that 1 August will mark the start of operations of the first aircraft, which will be manned by Angolans.

The funding provided to the company amounts to 31.5 million euros, which makes BAI the first Angolan bank to provide loans for acquiring aircraft to a private national entity.

The chairman of the Executive Commission of BAI, Luís Lélis, re-stated the commitment of his institution to support national industry, ensuring greater promotion and boosting of the supply chain of goods and services to the oil sector, contributing to increasing the participation of national companies in the Angolan oil and gas industry.
