Angola gross credit registers an increase of Kwanzas 1.05 billion in June

Angola non-financial sector benefited a gross credit valued at Kwanzas 4.77 trillion, in June of this year, the country´s state-owned news agency Angop reported.

This amount means a slight increase of Kwanzas 1.05 billion (0.02 percent), in comparison to the same period the previous year.

This amount granted by commercial banks, 91.52 percent represents loans to the private sector (private companies and individuals) and 8.48 percent to the public sector (administration and public companies), Angop said quoted a source from the National Reserve Bank Banco Nacional de Angola (BNA).

The debt of the non-financial public sector totalled Kwanzas 404.81 billion, of which 57.96 percent was owed to the public administration and 42.04 percent to public companies, Angop added.

Compared to the same period the previous year, there was an increase of Kwanzas 30.28 billion (8.08 percent).

The debt of the private sector (private companies and individuals) fell by 29.22 billion kwanzas (0.66 percent), from 4.40 billion kwanzas in June 2021 to 4.37 billion kwanzas in June 2022, according to statistics published by the BNA and referred to by ANGOP.

For private companies debt stood at 3.52 trillion kwanzas, with a drop of 1.50 billion kwanzas (0.04 percent) and for individuals at 846.79 billion kwanzas, with a reduction of 27.72 billion kwanzas (3.17 percent).

Meanwhile, commercial banks injected, in June this year, 936.02 billion kwanzas of loan in the real economy, about 19.65 percent on the total gross credit of the banking sector, Angop added.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a slight drop of Kwanzas 2.12 billion, according to statistics published by the BNA.

Gross credit granted under the BNA’s notices, as part of the promotion of the real sector, totalled Kwanzas 438.51 billion, which corresponds to 46.85 percent of the total credit provided.

Of the overall credit granted to the real sector, the manufacturing industry stands out, with Kwanzas 491.34 billion (52.49 percent), followed by agriculture, animal production, hunting, forestry and fishing with 336.96 billion kwanzas (36.00 percent).

The extractive industry appears with Kwanzas 107.77 billion (11.51 percent), of which, Kwanzas 213.92 million (0.19 percent) granted under the notices on granting credit to the real sector.
