The National Diamond Trading Company of Angola (SODIAM) today launched its 17th rough diamond auction since 2019, offering 35 special stones from various mining operations across the country. The auction is being organized in partnership with Trans Atlantic Gem Sales and is being conducted electronically.
According to the company’s statement, viewing sessions for the lots begin this Monday, June 22, and will continue until June 25 at SODIAM’s headquarters in Luanda. The bidding process will close on June 26 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
The auction is intended for clients registered in SODIAM’s database who have expertise in the trading of special diamonds. The lots include a Run-of-Mine package and 35 special stones weighing 10.80 carats or more.
Among the stones on offer, 12 originate from the Luele mine, 11 from Catoca, four from Mussende, two from Lulo, and one each from the Calonda, Cuilo Kwanda, Kaixepa, Cuango, Somiluana and Mucuanza projects.
According to SODIAM, invited participants will receive a detailed participation package containing all relevant information and auction conditions.
The company noted that this is the seventeenth rough diamond auction it has organized since 2019, with the previous auction having taken place in March this year.
Founded in 1999, SODIAM is the state-owned company responsible for marketing Angola’s diamond production. In 2025, the company exported approximately 17.8 million carats of rough diamonds valued at around US$1.8 billion, achieving an average price of US$101.70 per carat. These results positioned Angola as the world’s third-largest producer of rough diamonds by value.
