Luanda is hosting the Conference on the Development of the Poultry Sector, a strategic platform aimed at boosting national production and strengthening food security.
Under the theme “Chicken Production in Angola”, the event, scheduled to take place on March 5 of the current year, is co-organized by the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Angola (FSDEA) and the International Finance Corporation, and has the institutional support of the Government of Angola through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Chicken production in Angola is in an expansion phase, with the objective of reducing the high dependence on imports, through projects focused on increasing the production of meat and eggs to enhance food security.
Currently, the country has installed capacity but produces around 10,000 tons, while the annual need is approximately 300,000 tons.
The National Livestock Development Plan (PLANAPECUÁRIA) aims to increase poultry production to 244,300 tons in the coming years.
