Google wants users to find search results from less well-known but equally useful sources, adding context by seeking to evaluate the credibility of online information.
In order to expand search results beyond the usual sources, Google will introduce new features to its Search tools.
The company says that in the coming weeks it will make available the new “About” feature, in Portuguese and other languages.
When doing a search, next to most of the results listed by Google, an icon will appear with more information about the respective listed result, functionality and where that information comes from.
The technology intends to make it easier to identify and verify facts published by independent and authorised web sources, which are relevant in Google’s Search, News and Image results.
