The company’s Ethics Commission is investigating an anonymous complaint about the case. Filipe Silva has already assured that no personal relationship of his has “threatened the integrity of [his] decisions.”

The Ethics Commission of Galp Energia is investigating an anonymous allegation regarding an alleged secret relationship between the company’s CEO, Filipe Silva, and a senior director, according to the newspaper ECO.

According to the report, although the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct does not prohibit personal relationships, it acknowledges that such situations can result in “conflicts of interest.”

If the investigation confirms that there is indeed a conflict of interest, given that the director in question reports hierarchically to the CEO, he could be removed from his position, the publication highlights.

Speaking to ECO, Filipe Silva confirmed the existence of a complaint but claimed to be unaware of its content. He added that, despite not informing the Ethics Commission of any relationship, no personal relationship of his “has threatened the integrity of his decisions.”

Unlike ECO, which suggests that the Galp CEO’s future may be at risk, Expresso’s Economics editor, Miguel Prado, considers it unlikely that Filipe Silva will be dismissed.

In 2023, Galp’s Ethics Commission received 54 reports, 21 of which were related to moral harassment and five to potential conflicts of interest. Only in six cases did the company deem it necessary to take action.
