Brazilian-Angolan businessman Valdomiro Minoru Dondo was honored this Thursday, July 3rd, by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with the “Peace and Development” Medal. The award is part of the tributes given to various personalities as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of Angola’s Independence.
Born in Brazil, Minoru Dondo settled in Angola in 1984, helping to facilitate the purchase of basic food supplies during the civil war. In 1987, he founded the VMD Participações & Investimentos Group, which over nearly four decades has grown into one of the country’s largest business conglomerates.
The group’s companies operate in key sectors: transportation, healthcare, retail, mining, agriculture, real estate, banking, and technology.
Beyond his business endeavors, Minoru Dondo has also stood out for his philanthropic activities.
