Mafia Island – Tanzania
Located about 160 kilometres south of Zanzibar, this tranquil island has dozens of deserted beaches – Butiama beach, located near the picturesque capital Kilindoni, and the southern shores of Chole Bay are the best. An underwater reserve on the island protects the immense coral reefs, perfect for divers.
Loango National Park – Gabon
Gabon has the best beaches in Africa in 2022. On the horizon, Loango National Park is a unique setting. It has some of the best infrastructure for tourists, thanks to its abundant woodlands, vast grasslands and healthy estuaries.
Bazaruto Archipelago – Mozambique
Off the coast of Vilanculos, the rich seascape known as Bazaruto has five stunning islands. There are almost 2,000 species of fish, plus sharks, whales, rays, turtles, dolphins and the very rare dugong.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park – South Africa
In isiZulu, iSimangaliso means ‘place of miracle and wonder’. This tropical coastline is one of the most attractive, rich and biodiverse places in South Africa.
Cape Vidal and Sodwana Bay have the southernmost coral reefs on the continent and the best beaches. The marshland is a perfect place for a relaxing swim.
Elmina Beach – Ghana
