The Angolan Competition Regulatory Authority (ARC) will hold a methodological seminar on July 16 for lawyers and corporate legal advisers to discuss the application of negotiated justice within Competition Law. The initiative aims to strengthen corporate compliance and promote a more effective enforcement of competition legislation in Angola.

According to the ARC, the event comes at a time when companies face increasing challenges in regulatory compliance and corporate governance. The authority considers negotiated justice to be an important mechanism for enhancing cooperation between the regulator and economic operators, encouraging solutions that reinforce legal compliance, improve legal certainty, and increase the effectiveness of competition law enforcement.

Adalberto Cauaia, Head of the ARC’s Legal and Litigation Department, said that raising awareness of this legal instrument is an important step towards consolidating a culture of competition in the Angolan market.

“Negotiated justice is an important instrument for strengthening the enforcement of Competition Law and promoting a culture of corporate compliance. Through this initiative, the ARC intends to engage more closely with legal professionals and contribute to a more transparent, competitive and secure business environment,” he said.

The seminar will take place at 9:00 a.m. at the IMOB Auditorium, the current headquarters of the Ministry of Finance in Luanda. Participants will benefit from a practical and interactive approach to the mechanisms of negotiated justice, its legal framework, and its application in Competition Law, with a focus on strengthening the role of legal professionals in preventing anti-competitive practices and promoting corporate compliance programmes.

The initiative forms part of the ARC’s advocacy strategy and is included in the institution’s broader efforts to expand knowledge of competition legislation among market participants. According to the authority, these actions are intended to raise awareness of the importance of complying with competition rules and contribute to a more competitive, transparent and investment-friendly business environment in Angola.
