The 18th Huila province Agriculture and Livestock Fair opened on August 11, as part of the festivities of Our Lady of Monte, the patron saint of Lubango.

Six hundred head of cattle of improved breed are reserved for auction at the Fair, which in principle was supposed to start Wednesday, but at the last minute was postponed to the next day.

The event is an initiative of the Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative (CCGSA).

It exhibits improved breeds produced locally, such as the white and red brahman, bosmara, nelore, simmentaller and other 278 bulls of indigenous breeds.

Business for the event is estimated at Kwanzas 300 m, up 107,9 m compared to its previous edition.

A total of 20 farms, including corporate and traditional farms from the provinces of Huila and Cunene, were registered for the event, which has created over 100 temporary jobs.

At the fair held last year, 400 improved breed cattle were on display.

Created 17 years ago, the Cooperative of Cattle Farmers of Southern Angola aims to defend the interests of 85 members, including large, medium and small farmers.
