The Government’s support for startups, through events, training programs, and partnerships, demonstrates its commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.

The African Development Bank (BDA) will provide $79 billion to ensure access to credit for startups and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) under the “Project Grow” initiative.

The funding, according to the Angolan Government, will be formalized through an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the BDA. It aims to establish a foundation for sustainable public investment focused on promoting employability and youth entrepreneurship, thereby contributing to socio-economic development and poverty reduction.

In Presidential Decree No. 21/25 of January 16, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, authorized the Minister of Finance, with the ability to delegate, to negotiate and sign the financing agreement and all related documentation on behalf of the Republic of Angola.

With two technological incubators in Luanda and Huambo, Digital.ao, Angola is promoting innovation and transforming the youth’s creative ideas into viable and sustainable businesses, aiming to foster digital inclusion and economic development.

Startups play a crucial role in economic growth by developing innovative products with high growth potential, while incubators, under the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, and Social Communication, provide a favorable environment for the development of new businesses and the strengthening of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The Government’s support for startups, through events, training programs, and partnerships, reflects its dedication to stimulating entrepreneurship and innovation in the country.
