EMIS – Empresa Interbancária de Serviços announced that it processed more than 69 billion kwanzas, equivalent to approximately 74.8 thousand US dollars, in electronic transactions throughout 2025, marking a historic performance for Angola’s financial system.
According to the company’s operational results report, these figures confirm the acceleration of financial digitalisation in Angola, both among individuals and within the corporate sector, reinforcing EMIS’s role as a key pillar of stability and efficiency in the national economy.
During the same period, the Multicaixa network processed a total volume of 46 billion kwanzas, a figure that exceeds by 1.33 times the amount proposed in the 2025 State Budget (OGE). This financial volume represents a growth of 31.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
In terms of transaction volume, approximately 3.4 billion operations were carried out on the Multicaixa network, reflecting a significant increase of 47.9%. The robustness of the infrastructure was particularly demonstrated on 24 December, when a historic peak of 15.8 million transactions was recorded in a single day.
Multicaixa Express remained the most widely used channel, accounting for around 62% of all operations conducted on the Multicaixa network. Throughout 2025, the application processed more than 2.1 billion transactions, moving approximately 19.7 billion kwanzas, highlighting the strong migration of users to digital payment solutions.
The year was also marked by rapid adoption of new payment methods. The instant transfer system KWiK recorded its best performance ever, with growth exceeding 1,000% in the number of transactions, reaching nearly 35 million transfers. In financial terms, the system moved approximately 600 million kwanzas, representing an increase of 725% compared to the previous year.
QR Code payments also experienced strong expansion, surpassing 53 million transactions and consolidating their position as a modern, simple and secure alternative for retail payments.
In the corporate segment, the Credit Transfer System achieved unprecedented results, processing 22.7 trillion kwanzas through 31 million operations, reflecting a growth of 37.8% in the total amount transacted.
According to EMIS, the 2025 results reinforce the company’s commitment to leading the digital transformation of payments in Angola, with continued investment in secure, efficient and reliable infrastructure, aimed at the progressive digitalisation of the national economy.
