Angola’s inflation rate recorded a year-on-year variation of 18.16% in September, representing a deceleration of 0.74 percentage points compared to August and 11.78 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
According to data from the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the “Health” category recorded the highest increase in the price index, with a year-on-year variation of 22.11%.
Significant increases were also observed in categories such as “Transport” (21.39%), “Miscellaneous goods and services” (19.96%), and “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (19.22%).
Meanwhile, the “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” category contributed the most to the overall increase in the general price level, accounting for 11.15 percentage points in September. It was followed by “Miscellaneous goods and services” (1.41 percentage points), “Transport” (1.09 percentage points), and “Health” (0.93 percentage points). The remaining categories contributed less than 0.93 percentage points, according to INE.

In August, Angola recorded the lowest inflation rate in recent months. That month, the year-on-year inflation rate stood at 18.8%, a decline of 11.6 percentage points, marking the lowest level after several consecutive months of decline.
Data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) showed a 0.61 percentage point decrease compared to the previous month (July), confirming the ongoing downward trend.
The “Food and non-alcoholic beverages” category contributed 19.2%, below “Clothing and footwear” (19.6%) and “Hotels, cafés, and restaurants” (19.7%), respectively. The main contributor to inflation that month was “Health” (23.69%), followed by “Transport” (21.07%), “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” (20.55%), and “Miscellaneous goods and services” (20.54%).
