Angolan businessman Valdomiro Minoru Dondo has denied any connection to the Cabinda Refinery, following the circulation of false information on social media claiming he was linked to the shareholding structure of Gemcorp, the majority partner of the project.
In a statement, the businessman’s press office clarified that Dondo is neither the owner of Gemcorp nor of the Cabinda Refinery, describing the allegations as “absolutely unfounded” and motivated by “bad faith,” with the purpose of distorting the truth and discrediting both the businessman and the Angolan Government’s efforts to diversify the economy.
The note highlights Valdomiro Minoru Dondo’s career, portraying him as an entrepreneur with several decades of activity in the private sector, recognized for his contribution to the country’s economic and social development.
The statement further stresses that the dissemination of false news is a harmful practice against national interests, as it undermines the honor of citizens and the progress achieved by the country in strategic areas such as attracting investment and building infrastructure, including the Cabinda Refinery.
The press office also appealed to the public and the media to always consult official and reliable sources before sharing information, in order to prevent the spread of content that “only serves obscure agendas.”
