The Cabinda Refinery received the Downstream Operator of the Year award during the Gala Dinner of the Angola Oil & Gas Conference 2025, held in Luanda.

The distinction acknowledges the refinery’s contribution to transforming the downstream sector in Angola and strengthening the country’s energy sovereignty.

With a processing capacity of 60,000 barrels of crude per day, supplied by Sonangol, the new refinery marks a turning point for the national industry. The project aims to reduce dependence on petroleum product imports and position Angola as an industrial reference on the African continent.

The award was accepted by Marcelo Hofke, CEO of Gemcorp Angola, on behalf of the Cabinda Refinery. He highlighted the importance of the achievement:

“This recognition, coming so close to the inauguration of the refinery, demonstrates the project’s relevance and impact for Angola. The Cabinda Refinery was created to serve the country and the Angolan people, with international standards of excellence, and this award shows that the African oil sector recognizes its strategic importance. It is an honor to share this prize with all those who made this achievement possible and to reaffirm our commitment to consolidating Cabinda as an industrial hub of reference in Africa.”
