The multisectoral mission of the Government of Angola to Lagos concluded last Thursday, March 20th, which allowed for the exploration of business opportunities and the promotion of Public-Private Partnerships with Nigeria’s Dangote Group.
According to the Embassy of Angola in that country, the Group is seeking a concession of 100,000 hectares of arable land in various regions of Angola for the intensive cultivation of sugarcane and rice, establishment of sugar factories and rice processing mills, as well as the certification of its products in the Angolan market.
Discussions also included proposals for Dangote Group’s entry into the Angolan market through direct acquisition of crude oil, participation in mature oil fields, sale of petroleum derivatives, and management of oil refineries.
Other topics discussed between the parties involved the transfer of technology and specialized know-how for petrochemical industry projects and the promotion of local content.
In the upcoming month of April, a team from Dangote Group will travel to Luanda to consolidate discussions with the relevant sectors and sign Memoranda of Understanding to facilitate their investments.
The Memoranda of Understanding will focus on partnerships and concessions with SONANGOL, the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Petroleum (MIREMPET) focusing on Local Content, the Petroleum Derivatives Regulatory Institute (IRDP), and the Agrarian Development Institute (IDA), overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
