The process for the sale of stakes held by Etu Energias in offshore Angolan Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A has entered a new phase following the publication of the legal instruments required to complete the transaction.
According to information released by Afentra, publication of the executive decree relating to Block 3/05A allows the novation procedures and the remaining steps needed to complete the transaction to move forward. The instrument relating to Block 3/05 had been published earlier.
The transaction provides for Afentra to acquire additional interests currently held by Etu Energias. Sonangol Exploration & Production, operator of both blocks, has also decided to take part in the process, alongside France’s Maurel & Prom.
Completion of the transaction is expected after the required technical, legal and administrative procedures have been concluded. Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A are part of Angola’s mature offshore oil assets.
The deal comes amid increased activity involving petroleum assets in Angola, marked by the entry of new investors and the restructuring of interests in producing blocks.
