Inflation in Angola slowed to 14.56% in January, down 1.13 percentage points compared to December 2025 and representing a year-on-year decrease of 11.92 percentage points, the Angolan National Institute of Statistics (INE) announced.<\/p>\n
According to the National Consumer Price Index compiled by the INE, the decline to 14.56% confirms the downward trend in prices throughout 2025, when inflation stood at 26.48% in January of that year.<\/p>\n
Despite this downward trajectory, the \u201ctransport\u201d category recorded the highest price increase in January, with a year-on-year variation of 19.07%. Notable increases were also observed in the categories of \u201chousing, water, electricity and fuels\u201d (16.60%), \u201chealth\u201d (15.92%), and \u201cfood and non-alcoholic beverages\u201d (14.89%).<\/p>\n
In terms of contribution to the overall rise in the general price level, the \u201cfood and non-alcoholic beverages\u201d category had the greatest impact, followed by \u201cmiscellaneous goods and services,\u201d \u201ctransport,\u201d and \u201chealth.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huambo (12.57%), Zaire (12.93%), and Cuando Cubango (13.11%) were the Angolan provinces with the lowest inflation rates in January, while the highest rates were recorded in Cabinda (23.12%), Lunda Sul (16.93%), and Bi\u00e9 (16.42%).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
