inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Xi Jinping<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"294\" data-end=\"584\">\u201cIn this context, President <strong data-start=\"322\" data-end=\"363\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Lula da Silva<\/span><\/span><\/strong> announced that Brazil will grant a waiver for some categories of short-term visas for Chinese citizens, in reciprocity for the visa-free measure adopted by China since 2025,\u201d the Brazilian presidency said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"586\" data-end=\"875\">During the phone conversation, which lasted around 45 minutes, Lula da Silva and Xi Jinping agreed to expand cooperation in \u201cfrontier areas of knowledge\u201d and to leverage synergies between their countries for the development of infrastructure projects, ecological transition and technology.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"877\" data-end=\"1058\">The two leaders also reviewed the current and uncertain international scenario and reaffirmed their commitment to the \u201cdefence of multilateralism, international law and free trade\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1060\" data-end=\"1195\">In this context, they supported the \u201cstrengthening of the United Nations as the path to safeguarding peace and stability in the world\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1504\">Lula da Silva has intensified contacts with other world leaders this week after being invited by the President of the United States, <strong data-start=\"1330\" data-end=\"1371\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Donald Trump<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, to join a Peace Council promoted by the Republican leader aimed at resolving the conflict in the Gaza Strip and other ongoing wars.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1506\" data-end=\"1591\">Brazil has not yet responded, although it appears inclined to decline the invitation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1593\" data-end=\"1923\">Celso Amorim, Brazil\u2019s former foreign minister and Lula\u2019s current chief adviser on international affairs, said the previous day in an interview with the newspaper <em data-start=\"1756\" data-end=\"1765\">O Globo<\/em> that the new mechanism promoted by the United States is \u201cconfusing\u201d and, in practice, represents a \u201crevocation of the UN\u201d in the areas of peace and security.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"2132\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">In recent months, China and Brazil\u2014founding partners of the emerging economies group <strong data-start=\"2010\" data-end=\"2051\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">BRICS<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u2014have stepped up
