{"id":9111,"date":"2025-04-17T10:21:55","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:21:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.negociosdeangola.com\/impacto-das-politicas-de-trump-na-economia-mundial-rui-patricio\/"},"modified":"2025-04-17T10:30:03","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T10:30:03","slug":"impact-of-trumps-policies-on-the-global-economy-rui-patricio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.negociosdeangola.com\/en\/impact-of-trumps-policies-on-the-global-economy-rui-patricio\/","title":{"rendered":"Impact of Trump\u2019s Policies on the Global Economy \u2013 Rui Patr\u00edcio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"118\" data-end=\"269\">On November 17, 2024, I wrote an article entitled \u201cImpact of the American Elections on the Global Economy\u201d in which, among other reflections, I stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"271\" data-end=\"498\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"273\" data-end=\"498\">\u201cImport tariffs, including a universal 10% tariff on imports from all foreign countries and a 60% tariff on imports from China, are one of the main pillars of Trump\u2019s policies and will likely have the greatest global impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote data-start=\"500\" data-end=\"734\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"502\" data-end=\"734\">\u201cThese tariffs hinder global trade, reduce growth for exporters, and strain public finances in all parties involved. They are likely to increase inflation in the United States, forcing the Fed to act with a tighter monetary policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote data-start=\"736\" data-end=\"797\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"797\">\u201cThis same rise in inflation will spread to other markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"799\" data-end=\"880\">We will soon witness the real impact of these measures in practice in April 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"1052\">Since April 2nd, when Trump announced tariffs ranging from 10% to 50% on imported products from more than 180 countries, stock markets have experienced historic declines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1054\" data-end=\"1269\">Investors fear that the tariffs will make imported goods more expensive, driving inflation and reducing consumer spending, which could slow down the world&#8217;s largest economy \u2014 and possibly trigger a global recession.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1449\">In this context, \u201cthe uncertainty surrounding future trade relations and their impact on the economy is pushing investors away from risk assets and toward protective mechanisms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1451\" data-end=\"1612\">What Trump did not foresee was retaliation from markets such as the European and Chinese, with even higher tariffs \u2014 sometimes even double \u2014 on American imports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1806\">No economy can remain healthy and sustainable while being closed off.
