Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR) has been honoured with the Regional Development and Decentralisation Award at the inaugural AIPEX Awards 2026. The award, presented by the Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion (AIPEX), recognises companies, investors and projects that have made a significant contribution to Angola’s economic and social development.<\/p>\n
The award was presented during a ceremony held in Luanda. According to AIPEX, the recognition acknowledges the company’s role in promoting regional development, creating jobs and generating sustainable value through its rail and logistics operations.<\/p>\n
Currently, 97 per cent of the company’s workforce is made up of Angolan nationals, reflecting its commitment to developing local talent and creating economic opportunities in the communities served by its operations.<\/p>\n
For Nicholas Fournier, Chief Executive Officer of Lobito Atlantic Railway, the award recognises the company’s achievements while reinforcing its commitment to Angola.<\/p>\n

Under a 30-year concession, Lobito Atlantic Railway is responsible for the modernisation, maintenance and operation of the approximately 1,300-kilometre railway linking the Port of Lobito to Luau, on the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The company also manages the Lobito Port Mineral Terminal, providing rail and logistics services to domestic and international customers while strengthening Angola’s strategic position as a transport and trade corridor in Southern Africa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
