The Competition Regulatory Authority (ARC) has advocated strengthening legal mechanisms that allow consumers, companies, and other economic operators to obtain compensation for damages caused by anti-competitive practices.<\/p>\n
The position was presented during a webinar organised by ARC, in partnership with PLMJ Colab Angola \u2013 RVA Advogados, dedicated to the current challenges of Competition Law and the digital economy.<\/p>\n
During the session, Adalberto Cauaia, a specialist from ARC\u2019s Legal Litigation Department, stated that Angola already has legal instruments that allow affected parties to seek redress through the courts. However, he stressed the need to make these mechanisms more effective, particularly regarding access to evidence, the assessment of damages, and coordination between ARC and the courts.<\/p>\n
The official also highlighted that so-called private enforcement<\/em> remains underdeveloped in the country, arguing that strengthening it could improve the protection of consumers and businesses, while also reinforcing investor confidence.<\/p>\n The webinar also addressed the challenges of competition in digital markets, with a focus on the growth of digital platforms, e-commerce, and digital financial services.<\/p>\n Jos\u00e9 Luquinda, a lawyer at PLMJ Colab Angola \u2013 RVA Advogados, emphasised that the digital economy requires modern legal instruments capable of protecting competition, encouraging innovation, and ensuring fair conditions for companies and consumers.<\/p>\n Through this initiative, ARC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting more competitive, transparent, and innovative markets, contributing to a more favourable business environment for investment and Angola\u2019s economic development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Competition Regulatory Authority (ARC) has advocated strengthening legal mechanisms that allow consumers, companies, and other economic operators to obtain compensation for damages caused by anti-competitive practices.
